Buddha's Birthday. The date commemorating the birth of Siddhartha Gautama, later the Gautama Buddha. According to tradition, Siddhartha was born c. 563–483 BCE in Lumbini, Nepal.

The Buddha's birthday is celebrated on the 15th day of the fourth month of traditional Indian lunar calendar.

This date varies from year to year in the Western Gregorian calendar, but usually falls in April or May. In leap years it may be celebrated in June.

In Nepal, India, Southeast Asia, and Tibet, the Buddha's birthday is celebrated along with the Buddha's enlightenment and parinirvana. This festival is called Buddha Jayanti in Nepal and India, Vesak in Southeast Asia, and Saga Dawa Duchen in Tibet.

In the East Asia, the Buddha's Birthday is celebrated during the fourth month (of the lunar calendar) as Buddha Jayanti, while the Buddha's awakening and parinirvana are celebrated in the twelfth and eleven months, respectively.
