Saga Dawa (T. sa ga zla ba ས་ག་ཟླ་བ་) is the fourth month of the Tibetan lunar calendar. It is the most important month of the year within Tibetan Buddhism, when it is believed the results of wholesome and unwholesome actions increase a hundred thousand times.[1]

The first fifteen days of the month are considered especially important.[2]

The 15th day of this month marks the holiday of Saga Dawa Düchen (T. sa ga zla ba dus chen ས་ག་ཟླ་བ་དུས་ཆེན་); this day commemorates the Buddha's birth, enlightenment and parinirvana.[1]

Saga Dawa Düchen is one of the four major holidays in Tibetan Buddhism. This holiday is known as Vesak in Southeast Asia, and Buddha Jayanti in Nepal and India.
