zhengwu (J. shōgo; K. chŭngo 證悟). A Chinese term translated as “realization-awakening”, "full realization", etc.[1][2] It is the more advanced of the two types of enlightenment (wu; bodhi) discussed in some Chan schools, equivalent to the achievement of buddhahood.[1]

"This type of awakening is achieved at the consummation of the ten stages (bhūmi) of the bodhisattva path, rendering one a buddha in fact as well as in principle."[1]
