Sonam Tsemo

Sönam Tsemo (T. bsod nams rtse mo བསོད་ནམས་རྩེ་མོ་) (1142-1182). The second of the five patriarchs of the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism.

During his childhood, his main teacher was his father Sachen Kunga Nyingpo.

He was the author of a famous commentary on the Bodhicharyavatara. He was a direct student of Chapa Chökyi Sengé (1109-1169) and based his commentary on Chapa Chökyi Sengé’s commentary.
