jianxing chengfo (J. kenshō jōbutsu; K. kyŏnsŏng sŏngbul 見性成佛) is a Chinese term that is translated as “see one’s nature and become a buddha”.[1] This expression is said to summarize the Chan school’s unique approach to Buddhist meditative practice and is attributed to the school’s putative founder, Bodhidharma.[1]
