Four stakes that bind the life force (T. srog sdom gzer bzhi སྲོག་སྡོམ་གཟེར་བཞི་) are four points that condense the essential methods of development stage practice of Mahayoga tantra according to the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism.[1][2][3]

The four stakes are:[1][3]

  • The stake of absorption in the deity (ting nge dzin lha’i zer)
  • The stake of the essence mantra (nyingpo ngak kyi zer)
  • The stake of projection and absorption (tro du trinlé kyi zer)
  • The stake of the unchanging realization (gongpa mingyurwé zer)

The four stakes are applicable to the practice of all tantric sadhanas.[3]
