The collected teachings of Chan master Huangbo Xiyun. Compiled by the lay practitioner-scholar Pei Xiu (裴休).[2]
Pei Xiu was a minister of state for Tang dynasty. He is said to have recorded the lectures delivered by Huangbo at the monasteries of Longxingsi and Kaiyuansi, and edited his notes together as the Chuanxin fayao and Wanling lu ("Record of Wan-ling").[1]
The central tenet of the Chuanxin fayao is the teaching of the “one mind” (yixin).[1]
