Daśabhūmivyākhyāna
(Redirected from Shidijing lun)
Daśabhūmivyākhyāna. (T. sa bcu pa’i rnam par bshad pa; C. Shidi jing lun; J. Jūjikyōron; K. Sipchigyŏng non 十地經論). “Explanation of the Daśabhūmikasūtra”. A commentary on the Daśabhūmikasūtra ("Sutra of Ten Bhumis") attributed to Vasubandhu.[1]
This text was translated into Chinese by Bodhiruci in the 6th century CE.[2][3] Bodhiruci's translation served as the basis for the Di lun zong ("Daśabhūmikā school”) of Chinese Buddhism. (Di lun is an abbreviation of the Shidi jing lun, the Chinese translation of the title Daśabhūmivyākhyāna.)[1]
The text is also included in the Tibetan Tengyur (Toh 3993).
Peter Alan Roberts states:
- The principal commentary to The Ten Bhūmis [Daśabhūmikasūtra] was written in the fourth century by Asaṅga’s successor and half-brother, Vasubandhu. That commentary was itself the subject of a commentary by Sūryasiddha, who claims that the meaning of the sūtra was revealed solely to Asaṅga, who subsequently transmitted it only to Vasubandhu. These texts do not concern themselves with the introductory section of the sūtra, but a commentary on the introduction was written in the eighth century by Śākyabodhi.[4]
Also known as: *Daśabhūmikasūtrabhāṣya.[5]
