The 15th Karmapa, Khakyab Dorje (Tibetan: མཁའ་ཁྱབ་རྡོ་རྗེ; 1871–1922 or 1870–1921)[1] was the 15th Karmapa of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. He born in Sheikor village in Tsang, central Tibet. Sources state that at his birth he spoke the Chenrezig mantra, and at five he was able to read scriptures.

He was a student of both Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo and Jamgön Kongtrul.

Khakhyap Dorjé received the Kagyu transmission from Jamgon Kongtrul, including the instructions of Kongtrul's Five Treasuries.

He revealed both earth and mind termas.

His two sons were Karsé Kongtrul and the Eleventh Shamarpa. One of his consorts was the great dakini of Tsurphu, Khandro Ugyen Tsomo (1897-1961).[2]
